Special Clive Rice beer bottle isn't for fans, says SAB

Johannesburg - Fans of cricket legend Clive Rice will not be able to buy specially labelled bottles of Castle Lager beer.
This, according to Errol Madlala, Sponsorship Manager at South African Breweries. 
Mr. Madlala told Newsful a short while ago that Cricket SA had ordered the special bottles for a memorial for Mr. Rice, who died from septicemia last week Tuesday.
Mr. Madlala could not confirm how many bottles were produced for the special occasion. He said he did not process the order.

Boks rally around Frans Steyn after brother dies

Johannesburg - Unconfirmed reports say Springbok Utility Back Frans Steyn, has lost his brother to suicide. 
Earlier, Springbok Team Manager Ian Schwartz said Steyn had been "released from the squad with immediate effect following the death of his brother" this morning. 
It's believed Steyn's brother Wimpie took his life on the family farm in Bethlehem. 
Said Schwartz: "Frans informed me straight after our morning session on Monday and as soon as he heard the sad and tragic news that his brother had passed away."

Proteas pay tribute to Clive Rice

Dhaka - Members of the National Cricket team will be wearing black armbands as a tribute to former Proteas caption Clive Rice, who died this week at a Cape Town hospital.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) spokesperson Michael Owen-Smith says the bands would be worn before the commencement of the test against Bangladesh today. 
The team's manager Lerato Malekutu says none of the players would be returning to South Africa for Mr Rice's funeral.
The 66-year-old sportsman died of a brain tumour on Monday at a hospital in Cape Town.

SA shares memories of Clive Rice

Johannesburg - Former South African cricket captain Clive Rice has passed away at the age of 66.
The sportsman died from a cancer-related condition in a Cape Town hospital this morning.
In February, Rice collapsed at his home, prompting urgent treatment for a cancerous brain tumour.
He was rushed to India to receive what was touted as life-saving cyber-knife treatment for the growth.

David Beckham earns more money AFTER retiring

London - It's been revealed that soccer star David Beckham made about R915 million rand (or roughly 50 million pounds) last year, just one year after he officially retired from football. 

The former England captain, who is 39 years old, retired in 2013.

US magazine Forbes placed him second on the list of highest-earning retired athletes after basketball star Michael Jordan. Interestingly , Mr. Jordan earned 67 million pounds last year.
