SA's first Virtual Reality community
Cape Town - What's the one thing missing from the Virtual Reality (VR) industry in South Africa? If you guessed a common space where everyong interested in VR can meet to share ideas, share news and share views, then, you would be correct.
This week, the Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative (CiTi) launched the first VR community in the country. CiTi partnered with the Bandwidth Barn (also in Cape Town) to welcome enthusiasts. The new community hopes to meet once a month and is expected to have the collective skills of those in graphic design, gaming, coders and film and technology fields.
Ian Merrington, chief executive officer (CEO) of CiTi, was quoted by Disrupt Africa as saying: "Tech and innovation are no longer about isolated development or working in silos. Rather it is a catalyst bringing together industries, disciplines and mediums in our quest to innovate and create. The virtual reality community is a first in the country and we are proud to continue CiTi’s tradition of technology, innovation and inclusive growth through this new initiative.”
