Public schools get online boost

Public schools get online boost

Johannesburg - Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi is going to launch an online registration process for pupils who want to be admitted into public schools.

An MEC is the acronym for Member of the Executive Council. In South Africa, every province has a Member of the Executive Council who manages a particular important function for that province. In this case, Mr.Lesufi is managing the important function of Education in the province of Gauteng, hence, Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi.

Historically, applying for admission into a public school meant long queues at the school. Mr Lesufi is hoping this online registration process will solve the problem of parents not registering their child at school on time and avoiding the last minute rush which results in the long queues.

For those interested in using the online form, applications are open from the 13th of April until the 26th of May.
Watch Mr. Lesufi talk about transforming the education system by introducing tablet computers to classrooms and now, making online applications possible.
