Province-wide search for teen ends in tragedy
Johannesburg - Friends and family of Klara Göttert are in shock over the death of the 14-year-old, who was reported missing yesterday.
When Klara failed to return to her Westcliff home after school, her mom -- media strategist Liesel Göttert -- sent out a missing persons alert which was widely circulated on Facebook.
Sadly, at around 11PM, her body had been found.
In a post on Facebook, her aunt Yolande de Klerk confirmed that Klara had taken her own life. Ms. De Klerk said it was the darkest day in their lives and described her niece as a gentle, loving soul.
On her Instragram page, Klara described her interests as skateboarding, martial arts and parkour. She also posted a video of herself performing two stunts. She also described herself as a "weirdo".
But, in the past 2 weeks, her messages seemed more pensive. She posted updates that read: "The good in the bad ... the bad in the good ... together ... it's life" and "So many things I find in eyes ... things that others cannot". A week ago, she posted: "Everything just seems like a dream".
Meanwhile, messages of condolences have been shared around many of the earlier posts calling for help to find Klara.
The school she attended, The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg, also posted a brief message of sadness at Klara's passing.
