'Don't waste your prayers on me' - Prince, days before his death
Johannesburg - The artist known as Prince has died. He was 57 years old.
His publicist confirmed that Prince's body was discovered at his home in Minnesota on Thursday morning.
TMZ reported that the singer, whose full name was Prince Rogers Nelson, stopped breathing. The publication said on April 15th, Prince's private jet was forced to land in Illinois for "a medical emergency". Prince appeared at a concert the next day and allegedly told the crowd that he was battling the flu. He also allegedly said: "Wait a few days before you waste any prayers."
Among the South African personalities who expressed sadness at the artist's death was radio host Eusebius Mckaiser. He said Prince's passing was a loss to music. "What a legacy,' he wrote on Facebook. Mr. Mckaiser said Prince's 'The most beautiful girl in the world' was one of his favourite songs.
"Dear Prince, so sad to hear the tragic news of such a mammoth artist. David Gresham Music had the honour of publishing in SA. RIP," wrote founder of the record label on his Facebook page.
