Heartbreak for SA actress whose dog was shot dead
Johannesburg - Commercial lawyer and popular actress Jena Dover has given her account of the fatal shooting of her dog by private security company Community Active Protection.
Ms. Dover told the Sandton Chronicle, yesterday, that the version the company presented was different to the one she witnessed.
The celebrity, who lives in Bryanston, told the newspaper that patrolling guards rang her doorbell at 11PM on Friday last week, notifying her that the driveway gate was ajar.
She said one of the guards proceeded to yank open the gate while another conversed with her mother through an intercom.
Ms. Dover claimed that during the event, one of her two dogs rushed to the gate and a shot was fired by one of the guards.
The second dog -- Deja -- became startled by the shot and attacked the guard at the gate.
She said the guard fired his gun at point blank range, fatally wounding the animal in the head.
Ms. Dover told the publication that she had no desire to sway public opinion against the company but said several facts could be disputed.
Meanwhile Community Active Protection told the publication that they would appoint an independent body to investigate the incident.
