There's nothing like a birthday to bring about thoughts of legacy. 

In 2012, I was behind the tweet that wished President Jacob Zuma a happy birthday. Of course, at the time South Africa's media had been in a tense fight for access to information. There was talk of a media appeals tribunal, because certain ministers in government were seriously dissatisfied with the caliber of journalism coming out of independent newsrooms.
